“Canyon Voices by the Art Quilt Association”<\/h1>\n

The Art Quilt Association appears at Chapin Mesa Gallery at Mesa Verde National Park in the fall of 2008.\u00a0 Combine a visit to the park with an opportunity to view works by AQuA members that depict life past or present, in this part of the world.<\/h2>\n

July 17, 2008 to October 31, 2008<\/p>\n

Chapin Mesa Museum Art Gallery is located within Mesa Verde National Park.\u00a0 The park is located about one hour driving time from Cortez, CO and 1.5 hours from Durango, CO in the famous Four Corners area of the US. The museum is located 20 miles from Park Entrance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Gallery displays historic and contemporary artwork that focuses on Mesa<\/span><\/p>\n

Verde National Park and the American Southwest. <\/span><\/p>\n

Gallery is open during park hours;\u00a0 8:00 am to 6:30 pm<\/span> daily.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entry fee to the park – 5\/25 – 9\/1 – $15\/car<\/span><\/p>\n

9\/2 – 5\/24 – $10\/car<\/span><\/p>\n

Museum is free. <\/span><\/p>\n

Quilts from the exhibit and fabric postcards are for sale through the Mesa Verde Museum<\/span><\/p>\n

Association with part of the proceeds going to the museum. <\/span><\/p>\n

Shinn made these comments in her statement about the exhibit:<\/p>\n

“It is challenging to jury a varied body of other people\u2019s work. The juror must try to be objective within their own understanding of what art can be, and that of course is very subjective. What that person sees will be different than what each artist saw in their imagination or in the physical realization of their ideas. I found wonderful use of patterned and textured fabrics among the entries as well as subtle use of paint and stitching.\u00a0 I found how living in the colorful and arid Southwest informs the art that is made there.” <\/span><\/p>\n
