Challenge 2024 Underway
This challenge got underway at our February Meeting. If you missed out and still want to participate Contact Sharon.
This first thing to know is that there are very few rules! This is all about being creative, having fun, and getting to collaborate with other AQuA Members. The framework is as follows:
- Bring a 16” X 20” (ish) piece of fabric that you have altered in some way.
- Anything will work but the abstracts gave more freedom to play.
- The fabric will be exchanged 3 times among your randomly selected group of 4.
- Each person gets to add whatever they want to the piece.
- We mean anything: surface design, paint, dye, add other fabrics, slice/dice/reassemble…. Anything that is an artistic step forward, knowing the piece will be exchanged again and needs to have ‘room’ for additional design
- Each group can set their own guidelines
- Finished piece can be any size
- The piece is returned to the original owner
- Your new group sets up the time frame/place to exchange so you meet the revel deadline of September 19th AQuA meeting
- There is no “end goal” of this challenge other than to foster community and artistic exploration.
A group of four tried this out and here is their experience:
- Two pieces were appliquéd abstracts, two were painted fabric.
- They met for lunch and exchanged the pieces.
- They did not try to hide the progress, but rather we used this time to chat and talk about the possibilities.
