Challenge 2026 Underway

Challenge 2026 Underway

The AQuA 2026 Color Challenge got underway at our February Meeting. If you missed out and still want to participate talk to Marla at the March meeting or the retreat.

This first thing to know is that there are very few rules!  This is all about being creative and having fun. The framework is as follows:

  1. You will choose a color from one bag and a color scheme from another bag.
    • The colors are:  Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Orange and Violet/Purple

      2.The color schemes are:

    • Analogous: consecutive colors on the color wheel
      • Example: Yellow and Green or Yellow and Orange, Blue and Green or Blue and Violet/Purple etc.
    • Complementary: Colors that are directly opposite each other on the color wheel
      • Example: Purple and yellow, red and green, blue and orange
    • Monochromatic: Only tints and shades of the chosen color
      • Example: Dark red to pink

      3. The only other colors allowed are black, white and gray

      4. If you use some multicolor prints, they should be mostly the color that you chose.

      5. Size:  Vertical 12” by 48”

      6. Theme:  Anything you want!! Flowers, abstract, animals, aliens, whatever trips your trigger!

      7. Reveal date:  The October 2026 AQuA meeting. Thursday, October 15th

IMPORTANT:  This a challenge and is supposed to be FUN! If you don’t like the color or color scheme you picked, do something different. There are no AQuA police to stop or shame you. It  might be fun to try something new and work with colors you usually don’t work with. But it’s up to you!
